Our very own GHD Creative Artist Sheree Knobel shares her secrets to achieving smooth, glasslike hair for Harpers Bazaar Australia.
Smooth, supermodel hair

Reminiscent of the 90s, sleek and glossy blowdries are making a return in 2025 hair trends. “We’ve spent so much time perfecting big, bouncy blowouts, so we’re looking to switch [our hair] up with something smoother and sleeker,” shares Sheree Knobel, a ghd Creative Artist and the owner of Bixie Salon. “This trend is also super versatile. Whether you wear it down for that glossy, straight finish or slick it back into a bun or ponytail, it’s always shiny and cool,” the hairstylist adds, counting Lily Collins, Kendall Jenner and Demi Moore as her inspiration.
To achieve a smooth finish at home, Knobel’s advice is to start with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner in the shower, then apply a heat protectant like the ghd Bodyguard Heat Protect Spray and blowdry hair straight away. (“If you leave [your hair for] too long, the frizz sets in [which makes] it harder to smooth out and keep sleek for longer,” she says). Once hair is dry and smooth, Knobel reaches for the new ghd Chronos Max Hair Straightener — which has 85% larger ceramic plates compared to a traditional ghd straightener — to achieve a high shine, sleek style. Knobel then works in small sections and uses a comb ahead of the hair straightener on every pass, before angling the ghd slightly inwards at the ends. “This will help prevent that stiff, poker-straight look,” says Knobel.
