How to survive the summer months with blonde hair - Sydney Blonde & Balayage specialist sharers how.

Hey Bixie Babes!

If you’re anything like us, you’ll have been enjoying the beautiful summer weather that has FINALLY seemed to grace the Sydney east coast after months of rain!

While the sun, ocean and evening cocktails are welcome friends for our souls, unfortunately they can prove to be quite taxing on our blonde locks.

Fear not, as we have the ultimate solutions to keep your hair glossy and bright while you enjoy all that summer has to offer.

The best remedy for hair that may be a little dry from hours spent in the sun and water are a good shampoo and conditioner combo - our top two picks are:

Redken’s Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo

This god-send of a product is sulphate free and perfect for all types of hair, working to strengthen, reinforce weakened bonds and reduce signs of breakage. As a bonding shampoo, this product is amazing for babes on the go who don’t have time to sit around with product and masks in their hair. Just wash, rinse, repeat, condition and go!

Oribe Gold Lust Repair and Restore Shampoo

This rejuvenating cleanser combines rich oils and extracts such as cypress, organ and maracuja, along with bio-restorative technologies to create a product that balances the scalp and strengthen each hair strand from within.

We also recommend that you incorporate a purple shampoo once a week into your cleansing routine to keep hair bright, and a deep conditioning mask is a must! Dial up your strengthening and hydration with the Oribe Gold Lust Mask (moisture and protein are absolute must haves for blonde hair).

Remember to heat protect your hair!

Heat is the single most common enemy of blonde hair, so a great way to protect your hair during the warmer months is to invest in a heat protectant. If you’re familiar with Tik Tok you may have been privy to some fairly scary vids of what can happen when hot tools are used on hair without heat protectant! Not only can hair be damaged to the point of literal breakage, using curling irons and straighteners without a heat protectant can also leave hair dull and dead.

There are also many heat tools on the market that attempt to alleviate the stress that heat can place on hair, and by far our favourite is the product range by GHD who use advanced technology and optimal 185ºC styling temperature to keep hair strong, shiny and protected.

Maintain, maintain, maintain!

Our final tip for keeping blonde hair healthy in summer is maintenance! Blonde hair through the process of bleaching can be extremely prone to splitting at the ends, so it is important to regularly trim and dead ends. If this is unwelcome news as you’re trying to grow out your hair, ask your stylist for an invisible cut. This is a dry cut where the ends are very lightly trimmed away to remove split ends while maintaining length. We recommend a trim every 6 - 8 weeks to maintain a haircuts shape and remove any split ends.

That’s all from us this week Bixie Babes, heed our advice and go forth with your gorgeous blonde locks, enjoy the long summer days, snap those cocktail hour insta pics, and we cannot wait to see you in salon to purchase a blonde haircare treatment or for your next trim!

Until next time,

Love, Team Bixie xx
